At Broadmayne First School and Nursery, the safety, protection, and well-being of every child are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where children feel secure, listened to, and valued.

Our Safeguarding Commitments

1. Safer Recruitment & Vetting

We adhere strictly to statutory national guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

  • All staff, governors, and regular volunteers undergo enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks prior to commencing work.

  • Identity checks, references, and employment history verifications are completed for all applicants.

2. Continuous Staff Training

  • Every member of staff receives regular, updated training on child protection procedures, identifying signs of abuse or neglect, and online safety.

  • Designated Safeguarding Leads undergo advanced specialist training refreshed every two years.

3. A Culture of Listening

We foster an open environment where pupils are encouraged to express their feelings, speak up about concerns, and know that they will be heard and believed.

What to Do If You Are Concerned About a Child

During School Hours

Contact the school office immediately and ask to speak with Kirsty Jordan-Gill, Lisa Dunford, or Anna Felgate.

Outside of School Hours / Holidays

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

Online Safety & External Resources

Teaching children how to stay safe online is an essential part of our curriculum. We partner with parents to ensure children remain safe in the digital world.
