Welcome to Silver Birch Class!
Meet the Team
In Silver Birch Class, your child is supported by a dedicated team of three adults
Our class teacher is Miss Felgate and our wonderful teaching assistants are Mrs Chant, each day and Mrs Tindell joins us in the afternoons (Mon - Thurs). We will also be joined by Trevor Senior, who teaches PE for certain topics across the year.
Year 3 – A Year of ………..
Year 3 is your child’s penultimate year at Broadmayne, and we focus on the transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2. Throughout the year your child will have the opportunity to build their confidence and develop their learning across a range of subjects and exciting topics in preparation for Year 4.
Reward System
We believe school should be a positive and motivating environment. To encourage this, we use the following reward systems:
Learning Attribute of the Week: Each week, we explore a learning attribute linked to our school values. When children demonstrate the attribute, their names go into our class star jar. When the jar is full, the class earns a reward!
Dojo Points: Children can earn points for showing our school values of kindness, safety, and respect, as well as for demonstrating learning attributes like wonderful walking, luscious looking, and lovely listening.
Reading
We encourage daily reading to foster a lifelong love of books. Twice a week, your child will hand in their reading book to be checked by an adult. Please sign their reading record to confirm you’ve listened to them. Engaging with your child’s reading by using expression, discussing characters, and exploring the plot will help to strengthen their comprehension and enjoyment.
Home-learning
We offer opportunities for the children to extend and consolidate their learning at home by including recommendations in our Weekly Reminders and sending home some supporting resources and links where appropriate.
PE
Our PE days are Monday and Friday. Children should ensure their kit is in school and ready for use.
Snack and Healthy Eating
We encourage healthy snacks, such as pieces of fruit or vegetables. Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day, though milk is also available to order.
