Welcome to the Mighty Oaks as we like to call ourselves! In fact our motto is the old adage, 'From little acorns, mighty oak trees grow!'
In Oak Class we have three adults who support us with our learning. Mrs Brake is the main class teacher, Mrs Tindell and Mrs Lysenko are our amazing teaching assistants! We also have Trevor Senior teaching PE some terms too!
Year 4 is your child's final year of Broadmayne. As such, we endeavour ro get your child ready for middle school.
Reward System
We aim to show the children how school is a positive environment to be in. To this end, we have a few reward systems. First, there is the whole school learning attribute. At the start of the week, Mrs Brake will share a learning attribute which is linked to our school values. Throughout the week, we discuss the learning attribute and work hard to demonstrate it. When we are seen to be demonstrating it, our name is put in our class star jar. If the jar is full, we receive a class reward. In addition to this, the children have the opportunity to earn dojo points. Dojo pointscan be awarded by the adults in the class or around the school and can be achieved for a plethora of reasons.
Reading
We would really like your child to be reading daily. Every day, your child will hand their reading book in and they will be checked by an adult. Please sign to show you have heard your child read. It would be really help your child if you engage with their reading - enjoy using expression, talk about the characters and the plot. We aim to foster a love of reading.
PE
Our PE days are Wednesday and Fridays. Please can your child wear school PE kit.
Snack
We would like to encourage healthy eating. Please could a snack be pieces of fruit or vegetables. We encourage the children to drink water during the day but you can buy milk to drink too.
Residential
As part of our Year 4 expereince, we are lucky to go on a residential trip to Hooke Court at Beaminster. This is a fun opportunity to learn in an outdoors environment!
We have a calm and inviting environment to learn in and are proud of our inclusive approach to teaching and learning. We want to build up your child's self-esteem and confidence so they can enjoy life in their new school in Year 5!
