Broadmayne Nursery

Welcome to Our Nursery

Offering your child a rural, village-based care and learning environment, in which they can follow their curiosity in play and build social relationships in a safe, happy and fun setting, giving them everything they need to move on to school confidently.

Funded and fee-paying spaces available for children aged 2 to 4 years old.

Who We Are

We are a small, rural school-based nursery setting taking pride in providing a calm and relaxing environment for your little ones to learn, play, and grow. Being seamlessly integrated into the school community allows children to become familiar with the school environment, staff, and routines early on—helping them build confidence as they grow up through the school.

Our nursery is divided into two tailored rooms to support each developmental stage:

  • Squirrels Room (Aged 2–3): A warm, nurturing space designed to foster independence, early communication, and sensory exploration.

  • Owls Room (Aged 3–4): A calm setting focused on preparing pre-schoolers for their next big step as they transition up into Reception the following September.

Our Facilities & Outdoor Spaces

Beyond our indoor classrooms, our children have abundant room to explore. Each room features its own direct outdoor area, as well as full access to our large, fully enclosed garden. Our outdoor features include:

  • Slides and physical play zones

  • Dedicated construction and gravel pits

  • Messy play areas and mud kitchens

  • Woodland paths and our cosy story tree

We embrace the outdoors in every season. Whether scooping autumn leaves, navigating obstacle courses, playing parachute games, creating potion recipes, or enjoying a picnic under the story tree, we ensure fresh air and physical play are central to every day. Waterproof suits are provided for every child so the fun never stops, regardless of the weather!

Our Approach: EYFS & In-the-Moment Learning

Our curriculum combines structured learning goals with flexible, child-led exploration:

  • Half-Termly EYFS Themes: We follow half-termly themes designed to achieve the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) learning goals, providing a broad and engaging foundation for every child.

  • In-the-Moment Opportunities: Alongside our themes, we embrace in-the-moment planning opportunities. By observing and interacting with children during play, our practitioners follow their spontaneous curiosity, extending learning opportunities in real time.

  • Partnership with Reception: We work in close partnership with our Reception class team. Shared activities, joint learning opportunities, and regular visits ensure a gentle, familiar transition as children progress up through the school.

Activities & Special Visits

We offer a calm, varied daily routine that balances structured opportunities with child-led play. Regular activities include:

  • Creative & Sensory: Messy play, water play, painting, crafts, and junk modeling.

  • Life Skills & Practical Play: Cooking, baking, and caring for our vegetable and fruit patches.

  • Early Literacy & Numeracy: Mark-making, colouring, pen-skills practice, and phonics foundations for pre-schoolers.

  • Active & Imaginative: Music, dancing, story time, garden exploration, and nature trails.

Special Enrichment Visits

To complement our half-termly themes, we regularly invite outside visitors to enrich the children's learning, including:

  • Interactive animal visits

  • Children’s yoga and mindfulness sessions

  • Mobile library visits

  • Visits from emergency service community heroes
